Some Evils hide behind beauty, some hide in shadows in the night. Some are old enough to remember when humans believed in them, and some are hiding in plain sight. The previous family left a stain on this house and land. A stain that has happened before and has been erased over and over again. Mollie Whitmore vanished while playing near her family's orchard. Her mother, Evelyn, insisted that something took her. The townsfolk called it grief; her husband called it a mental breakdown. Evelyn was convinced something evil had taken her child. Something that had been taking children here for many decades. With late-night walks, mumbling, and rantings, her husband took what was left of his shattered family and moved on. Evie clings to the hope that a new place might wash away their last interaction, while her father is just desperate to put the whole thing behind them. No sooner do they move in, Evie is haunted by something. It starts small with strange noises in the dark, cold drafts, a child's bracelet, and a shoe. Then come the shadows fleeting, and a laughter that seems inhumane. Evie starts to question her mother's rantings. With things escalating quickly, Evie enlists help from an unexpected ally. That ally may be the very thing she is being haunted by.
