We report a fatal case following a massive attack by a swarm of bees on a nine-year-old child. The incident was fatal due to two aggravating factors: the location of the stings on the head and the large number of stings, estimated at 300. The complications observed included coagulopathy, anemia with acute hemorrhage, oligoanuria, followed by the gradual onset of malnutrition and coma. Treatment was symptomatic and did not prevent the fatal outcome, which occurred within 14 days. In light of the difficulties encountered, we recommend the development and implementation of a standardized protocol for the intensive care management of insect stings in all referral healthcare facilities.
