Find Yourself In The Story

There's a story being sold to you every day, and it's being sold hard, like a used car salesman in a very good suit. You know the pitch even if nobody has ever said it out loud: Distrust God. Trust your heart. There is no purpose to any of this and there is nothing waiting after it, so fill your guts with every pleasure you can get to. And be nice. Plenty of us bought it. Most of us never noticed we were buying. There is an older story. It was here long before you, and it will still be here long after we are gone.It says you were made on purpose. It says the God who made you has never once considered quitting on you.It says he walked into the middle of the mess himself, in a body, and that all of this is going somewhere far better than you have been told. You are already in that story.Find Yourself in the Story walks the length of it, from the first garden to the new creation, and hands you a way of seeing your work, your family, your grief and your everyday life through something deep enough to hold it all together. One of these stories wants your attention. The other is an invitation to something far bigger than yourself.
