First food, then morals?: the question of compatibility humanity and ecological impact industrial livestock farming

Climate change, environmental destruction, scarcity of natural resources, resulting social injustices and the search for solutions to these problems - the 21st century is beginning as an age marked by uncertainty. The question arises as to what universal guidelines the increasingly interconnected global society should follow. Humanity is a principle that applies nationally and internationally and determines values and norms. Humanity in the sense of justice, respect and responsibility towards all people is firmly established as an ethical standard in both politics and law. One of the most fundamental and unresolved questions in this context is that of world food supply. How can the additional food required in future for the ever-growing world population be provided? At the same time, one area of food production has a massive negative impact on the global social and ecological balance and thus contributes directly and in the long term to a reduction in human well-being - modern livestock farming in industrialised nations!
