First Thing in the Morning

The year 2020 was coming to an end, and to celebrate our second anniversary, my wife, Cecile, had a wonderful idea—a vacation with her parents. Her parents, may I add, were the type who couldn't stop asking questions every few minutes. Last year was awful, with me forgetting our anniversary and her parents' endless opinions. This year, I hoped things would be different, but I didn’t have my hopes up. As we waited for the bus, I couldn’t help but dread the trip ahead. Cecile knew how much I disliked being in the spotlight as an introvert, and she used that knowledge to take her revenge last time, which also didn’t help. On the bus ride, we sat at the back, and Cecile helped me ease up some of the tension. That was until the bus stopped, and her relatives climbed on. We spent the rest of the day with her family. The next morning, I woke her up with a song and we finished what we couldn't the day before, in the bus.
