Flourishing in the Desert: Hydrating with Living Water

What happens when you remain active in church but feel spiritually dry?In Flourishing in the Desert: Hydrating with Living Water, Dr. Rand Burden invites you to rediscover the life-giving presence of the Holy Spirit. Through biblical teaching, Wesleyan theology, personal testimony, prayers, and reflection questions, he shows how the Spirit renews your soul, strengthens Christian community, equips believers for ministry, and guides spiritual leadership. The journey begins with your personal relationship with the Holy Spirit. You explore how to recognize the Spirit's presence, grow in spiritual intimacy, receive your identity within the family of God, and live with greater openness and discernment. The book then turns toward the Church, examining spiritual gifts, shared ministry, Spirit-led community, and leadership that depends on prayer and guidance rather than human effort alone.Written for committed Christians, pastors, ministry leaders, and small groups, this book gives language to spiritual dehydration and offers a clear path toward renewal. Its central message is simple: the Church does not flourish through more activity, programs, or strategy alone. It flourishes when its people drink deeply of the living water of the Holy Spirit.Open the door to the Spirit, receive fresh spiritual vitality, and begin the journey toward a flourishing life and Church."This is a full and rich teaching that deserves our attention ... and the Church is more than ready for it."-Bishop Carolyn Moore (Global Methodist Church) / author
