FMEA to support risk management in hospitals: Standard - Integration Applicability

We often read in the news that yet another multi-resistant pathogen has spread in a hospital, or that babies have been switched at birth. There is also frequent talk of medical malpractice resulting from surgical procedures. Often, risk prevention is only considered once it is already too late. The mistake has been made, the hospital is sued, it costs money and possibly staff too, and the reputation is ruined. This paper shows that there is another way. It outlines measures for integrating a properly functioning risk management system, the standards that apply to its introduction and implementation, and the methods that can be used to reduce risk. The aim is to regain patients' trust, which also has extremely positive implications for the hospital itself.
