Bol "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law and the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." (Matthew 5:17) One could say that is the thesis statement of Jesus' sermon on the mount. As he concludes his sermon he returns to that theme. "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 7:12) As a mentor once told me, to truly understand Jesus' teaching one must understand the Old Testament. As I have come to understand Jesus' sermon more in this way, new insights have become apparent to me. I pray those insights will bless you as you read.
