This document highlights the evolution of the consumer, who has become a central actor in the regulation of markets and food governance, having rights but also duties in favor of responsible consumption.It underlines the importance of food safety, based on an integrated approach to the entire chain (nutrition, health, animal and phytosanitary security), while highlighting the risks linked to contamination, fraud and inadequacies of control.In the context of Burkina Faso, he insists on the need to strengthen control systems, public policies and the involvement of consumer organizations, in particular the Consumers League of Burkina.Finally, the document calls for inclusive food governance based on shared responsibility between the State, producers and consumers to guarantee healthy, safe and sustainable food.
