Bol This book is based on a PhD program dissertation at the intersection of new international political economy and management science. I wrote this dissertation because, during an MBA seminar at Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.), a business management professor told me: "You have to think big! If your project can't be deployed globally, then you're wasting your time!"... Therefore, when I began my PhD program, I was very surprised to find that there was no scientific research field specifically dedicated to international strategic management. Yet, courses, programs, and institutions of higher education are entirely devoted to this specialty. So, why doesn't strategic management appear in the scientific literature as a distinct field of research? And, under these circumstances, how can a researcher or manager rely on a solid theoretical framework to develop their work in international strategic management? In the absence of a truly defined theoretical framework, I had to develop one for the purposes of my research. This framework is now established, thanks to my dissertation and this book, which also serves as a manifesto. Like the great French theorist Henri Fayol, I, a humble theorist, have outlined a theoretical framework destined to have a global impact: ...ultimately, much as one of the wonderful professors at Georgetown University advised me!... The most important theory in this work is that, when implemented with respect for humanist and democratic principles, management can be an essential tool for uniting people, beyond their differences and potential conflicts, in a spirit of work and the building of a better humanity, and therefore a better future. > * >A humanist at heart and in spirit, Dany Mont holds a Ph.D program in political science (international relations) from the Center for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies at the Paris private School of Advanced International and Political Studies. He wrote his thesis on international political economy, with a specialization in international management.
