From Dakhleh to Dublin: 108

The wide-ranging, multi-disciplinary work of Iain Gardner over a career spanning forty-five years (thus far) inspires this collection of sixteen contributions on late antique religious culture at the intersections of text, language, papyrology, archaeology, and art history. The Manichaean religion offers the context for twelve chapters, but in these and others the topics range through Coptic and Middle Iranian language and text, Egyptian magic and ceramics, Armenian Christianity, Central Asian art, scribal practices, hymnology, theology, heresiology, zoology, and the material remains of life in the Dakhleh oasis city of Kellis. Contributors are: Giselle Bader, Roger Bagnall, Jason BeDuhn, Gillian Bowen, Doru Costache, Paul Dilley, Korshi Dosoo, Jean-Daniel Dubois, Zsuzsanna Gulácsi, Colin Hope, Jay Johnston, Samuel N. C. Lieu, Enrico Morano, Timothy Pettipiece, Madeleine Scopello, Nicholas Sims-Williams and Garry Trompf.
