This thesis sets out to develop a bilingual terminology resource for the veterinary border control post at Vienna Airport, which is intended to assist veterinarians in their dealings with international companies and private individuals in connection with the examination of live animals and products of animal origin, as well as in the preparation of veterinary documents, forms and certificates. By compiling a specialist vocabulary in German and English, the aim is to facilitate and simplify communication, on the one hand, between veterinary practitioners from across Europe and, on the other hand, with members of the public who make use of their services. Furthermore, the bilingual terminology is intended to ensure consistency, clarity and unambiguity in communication, whilst also improving the quality of documents issued in multiple languages and reducing translation times.
