Gift Illuminator (CD)

Illuminator is the second studio album by New York band Gift, released in 2024 as a coloured vinyl LP. A vivid blend of psych rock, shoegaze and modern pop, it pushes their sound into more expansive, cinematic territory while staying rooted in melodic, accessible songwriting. The record’s production leans into widescreen textures and electronic elements, giving the songs a spacey, dreamlike atmosphere that still feels grounded by a live-band energy and strong rhythmic drive.Compared to their debut, Illuminator presents a more confident and cohesive artistic vision, with dense layers of guitars, shimmering synths and airy vocals combining into an immersive, flowing listen from start to finish. Lyrically, it explores resilience, change and emotional introspection, often pairing introspective themes with soaring, euphoric musical climaxes. On coloured vinyl LP, the album’s rich, textural sound and dynamic contrasts are particularly striking, making Illuminator a compelling modern psych rock release that bridges classic alternative influences with contemporary production.
