Girlpuppy Sweetness (CD)

Sweetness is the second LP from Atlanta-based artist Girlpuppy, the project of singer songwriter Becca Harvey. Rooted in an indie rock and alternative pop aesthetic, the album pushes into darker, more texturally expansive territory than her debut, blending hazy, dreamlike atmospheres with emotionally direct songwriting. Across its concise runtime, Harvey uses lush yet unshowy production and intimate vocals to explore heartbreak, self doubt, and the slow work of rebuilding confidence, resulting in a record that feels both cathartic and quietly triumphant. Released in 2025, it showcases her growth in both lyrical depth and sonic ambition.Conceptually, Sweetness turns the aftermath of a long term relationship’s end into a narrative of grief, transformation, and personal acceptance. The title, taken from a personal nickname, hints at warmth and tenderness, while the music leans into the bittersweet tension between vulnerability and resilience. On coloured vinyl LP, the album’s rich, layered guitars, atmospheric synths and dynamic shifts are given extra room to breathe, emphasizing its shoegaze tinges and dream pop shimmer within an indie rock framework. The result is a cohesive, emotionally resonant work that captures the messy, nonlinear process of moving on, and solidifies Girlpuppy as a distinctive voice in contemporary alternative music.
