God's Jewels on Earth

"God's Jewels on Earth" is a collection of stories and God encounters that Sondra Black has had in her life. From the back cover: "O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit and when I rise; You understand my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down; You are aware of all my ways."(Psalm 139:1-3, BSB) This is the psalm I have read and reread over the years, and I have shared it with thousands of people during my forty-five years of ministry. I have ministered in jails and prisons, on street corners, in halfway houses, and even in aisles of Walmart. I have been led to speak to individuals or couples that I may never see again, but there was a reason for each of these encounters. Some have told me no one has ever spoken to them about God or Jesus. Others have said they were only taught about an angry God who would punish them, and are surprised when I tell them, "He is loving and wants the best for you". I have come to call these moments "divine appointments," orchestrated by God for His "Jewels in the Rough." A jewel in the rough has not yet been polished or cut into a beautiful gemstone, but what is inside is already there. Every story and every memory in this book begins with Jesus. Only He can transform lives-meeting each individual where they are and molding them into His image. I pray this book brings new excitement and fresh faith to your life. I invite you to join me, as I reminisce and walk these streets, markets, homes, jails, and prisons again. Together, we will see Jesus bring hope to people who knew nothing about God, who once met Him but had wandered, and who were deep in the enemy's camp.
