After facing early family challenges and personal loss, Joey joined the United States Marine Corps at seventeen. Today, he lives in Portales, New Mexico, with his wife, Roseann. They have three children, along with a growing number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joey now serves as an assistant baseball coach at Eastern New Mexico University, continuing to share his passion for life and mentorship.
