GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF MUSHIN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION: ADMINISTRATION, LAGOS STATE (1976 2003)

This book examined the growth and development of Mushin Local Government Area in Lagos State between 1976 and 2003, with particular emphasis on its origin, expansion, and socio-economic contributions within the period under review. The study aims to provide an in-depth historical analysis of the factors that influenced the establishment of Mushin as a local government, its administrative evolution, and its role in promoting grassroots development. The research adopts a qualitative methodology, utilizing historical analysis and oral interviews, complemented by relevant secondary sources such as books, journals, and archival materials. Through this approach, the study explores the dynamics of local governance, infrastructural development, and socio-economic initiatives that shaped Mushin's transformation over the years. Findings from the study reveal that Mushin Local Government played a significant role in fostering community development through education, healthcare, and market expansion, despite challenges such as inadequate funding and rapid population growth.
