Gunther! The Law West of Medieval

Meet Johann Gunther. In this origin story, we meet a young Johann Gunther, first as a cavalry trooper in the United States Army. After mustering out in 1888, he takes up the badge in Paris, Texas, to fight what his French police chief calls "America's medieval times." Gangs run wild and justice comes swift and final. But doing his job too well comes at a price. Gunther is marked for death by the outlaws, with a bounty on his head. To get him out of the killing ground, two state governors "reward" him by sending him..."away." Away to West Point. Away back into the Army. Away into wars and conflicts across the globe, from Cuba with Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders, to the Philippines, South Africa, and as far as China's Boxer Rebellion. Then Major Gunther retired in 1902. "Retired " to an era just after the age of the gunfighter and just before the time of the noir detective. A time when certain experienced men were called upon to solve difficult and dangerous problems. Men like the veteran Gunther. He settles in Fort Worth, Texas, and opens Remedies Investigations, becoming a resourceful, clever and violent if need be, problem-solver-for-hire. But in 1916, a very personal war comes home. An international gang with a long vendetta brings revenge murder back to Paris, Texas. Johann must return to the town and people he has not seen in decades, to save his old police chief and the city. Surrounded by conflicts, people and memories from his past, Gunther must stop an assassination and end the coming bloody war in Paris, Texas.
