When the village hall burns down just before the fund raising pantomime, Anna Stretton is sent to ask the new owner of Hamelfield House for use of his barn instead. She is unimpressed to discover he is Asher Prentice, a reclusive former pop star - she knows from experience that musicians are selfish, unfeeling creatures who don't care about anyone but themselves.Three years ago, Asher was accused of stealing songs from another writer. When it seemed his own bandmates thought him guilty, he walked away. He now agrees to the Players using his barn provided Anna keeps his identity secret.As Asher and Anna become close, he starts writing songs again. Then he discovers a plot to sabotage the pantomime, and hatches a plan to see the plotters fail by tying the pantomime to a special benefit concert by his band.But will Anna appreciate his actions, or will she think he is merely using the pantomime to restart his own career? Can he persuade her how he feels before he loses everything?
