Healing through justice: Transitional justice as a path to lasting peace in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo

The book deals with the armed conflicts that have raged in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo for three decades. It addresses the root causes of the security crisis and the mechanisms implemented to remedy it in the past, analyzing the reasons why they did not achieve the expected results. The author concludes with recommendations for the implementation of transitional justice mechanisms, inspired by the transitional justice policy drawn up by the group of experts mandated by the Congolese government for this purpose, and by the plea of Dr. Dénis MUKWEGE. These mechanisms are based on four pillars: the search for truth, institutional reforms, the repression and reparation of crimes, and guarantees that atrocities will not be repeated.
