This work addresses the environmental and sanitary impact of feedlot farms in the town of Saladillo, province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Although this activity has expanded steadily and generates a significant contribution to the regional economy, it may present deficiencies in environmental and effluent regulation, generating risks to community health and water resources. The main focus was to evaluate the impact of feedlots on the quality of local ground and surface water, integrating bibliographic information, technical background, chemical analysis and neighborhood perceptions. A four-pronged work plan was proposed: (1) survey of scientific and technical literature, (2) field work and exploratory sampling in wells and strategic water bodies, (3) analysis of physicochemical and microbiological parameters, and (4) design of mitigation and sustainable management strategies.
