Hindutva Vs Secularism

Why has the Opposition failed to stop Modi in three consecutive elections? In this provocative and timely book, Diptendra Raychaudhuri goes beyond political rhetoric to ask if Hindutva is responsible for the current state of Indian politics. Raychaudhuri offers a compelling answer—tracing the BJP’s ascent not merely to the assertiveness of Hindutvavadis, but to a socio-cultural and psychological transformation within Indian society. He argues that BJP’s rise since 2014 is less a story of Hindutva’s dominance and more a reaction to three cardinal faults that the secularists committed:Changing the very Idea of India propagated by icons like Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi. Imposing a USSR-prompted alien narrative from the fifties to the eighties.Forming two distinctly anti-Hindu governments in 2004 and 2009.
