History of Colombian Art: Artistic Movements, Masterpieces and Cultural Heritage

History of Colombian Art presents a chronological journey through the country's main artistic movements, from pre-Columbian art to contemporary urban art. The work integrates historical knowledge with practical activities, interdisciplinary projects, emotional education, and strategies for peacebuilding. The origin of this work: For four years, the author developed a research and pedagogical practice process in the classroom focused on the study of major movements in universal art. This process was shared and validated in presentations given at national and international congresses, seminars, academic meetings, and scientific events, the results of which have been documented in proceedings and specialized publications. During this experience, a question arose that transformed the course of her research: Why teach universal art history first if many students are unaware of the artistic, historical, and cultural richness of their own country? This reflection motivated a new investigation, focused exclusively on Colombian artistic movements, and gave rise to this book. History of Colombian Art is the result of prior research that revealed the need to strengthen knowledge of the national artistic heritage before addressing universal art. This work constitutes an innovative pedagogical proposal that combines historical rigor with artistic practice, emotional education, and holistic development. It integrates Colombian artistic heritage with active methodologies, interdisciplinary projects, emotional education strategies, and peacebuilding initiatives, allowing students to learn through experience, creation, and reflection. The book is based on the Affective-Pedagogical Classroom Model, developed by the author from her research and teaching practice, which integrates emotion, learning, and pedagogical practice, recognizing art as an essential resource for fostering meaningful educational experiences.
