History of the LAX VOX(R) - tube exercise

Developed more than 25 years ago, the LAX VOX® method is a simple, evidence-based approach to voice therapy and self-care that uses phonation through a silicone tube placed in water. The gentle back pressure created by the water helps reduce excessive laryngeal tension, improves breath control, and promotes efficient, ergonomic voice production. Built on the principles of "less is more" and "learn by doing," the method provides immediate sensory feedback, enabling patients to experience vocal ease quickly and transfer healthier voice patterns into everyday speech. This book combines practical guidance, clear explanations, and illustrations with the clinical evidence behind the method. A one-year follow-up study of patients receiving just 3-5 therapy sessions demonstrated statistically significant improvements in voice activation, participation, and the severity of dysphonic symptoms.
