Hunting Bear and the Five Nations

In the fantasy world of The Song of Hiawatha, we journey across the North American landscape with Hunting Bear, an Ojibway destined to travel through Native American cultures from the Rockies to the Atlantic. Before a single European foot had touched the New World, Turtle Island was dominated by the manitou-ag, the spirits found in everything, both good and evil. Mortal humans of the Midworld must struggle against the manipulations of the World Above and their Underworld enemies. Hunting Bear travels from the Great Lakes to hunt buffalo with the Dakota, make war with the Cheyenne and the Miami, and finally find himself in the land of the Iroquois. Conversing with manitou-ag, finding treasures, and fighting bloody battles, he and his companions must press ever forward, struggling against human enemies, hostile spirits, and the land itself. In an epic adventure, they must wade though war to find love and peace.
