Hxxs Year Of The Witch LP

Year Of The Witch is the debut LP by HXXS, released in 2019 as a limited edition coloured vinyl on the Captured Tracks label. Built from abrasive electronics, glitchy textures and taut, post punk tension, it sits firmly in the experimental electronic genre, with harsh synths and aggressive rhythms that create a claustrophobic, politically charged atmosphere. The duo’s sound is confrontational yet hypnotic, drawing on noise, industrial edges and surreal pop sensibilities to explore anxiety, power and modern unrest. The album’s concept and production history deepen its unsettling character. Initially recorded while the band lived and toured out of a van, the material was famously re recorded from memory after the original hard drive was stolen, adding a fractured, haunted quality to the final LP. Year Of The Witch channels personal and political unease into twisted electronic landscapes, balancing raw, disorienting sonics with moments of dark, off kilter catchiness. In its limited edition coloured vinyl form, the record underscores its own ritualistic, witchy aesthetic, standing as a distinctive statement in contemporary experimental electronic music.
