I porti fluviali di Roma: Archeologia delle rive urbane del Tevere dall'Antichità al basso Medioevo: 3273

Questo lavoro offre una ricostruzione complessiva del sistema portuale fluviale di Roma, analizzando le infrastrutture sorte lungo il tratto urbano del Tevere, dalle prime tracce di età protostorica fino alla definizione dei grandi poli commerciali in età bassomedievale. Sono esaminate la formazione e l'evoluzione degli approdi, in relazione con le altre strutture sorte lungo il fiume, in particolare argini, horrea e ponti, con un'attenzione specifica al ruolo del Tevere quale fondamentale arteria per lo spostamento di persone e merci. L'indagine mira a osservare le trasformazioni del sistema delle infrastrutture tiberine attraverso i dati archeologici, integrati con fonti storiche e iconografiche, confluiti in un database GIS. Ciò ha consentito di rappresentare tutte le informazioni in forma cartografica, offrendo una ricostruzione dettagliata del paesaggio fluviale. Ne emerge una visione unitaria e di lungo periodo, che restituisce oltre due millenni di storia di un'area nevralgica per lo sviluppo della città di Roma.This work offers a comprehensive reconstruction of the river port system of Rome, analysing the infrastructure that developed along the urban stretch of the Tiber from the earliest traces of the protohistoric period to the establishment of major commercial hubs in the Late Middle Ages. It examines the formation and evolution of river wharves in relation to other structures built along the river, in particular embankments, horrea, and bridges, with special attention to the role of the Tiber as a fundamental artery for the movement of people and goods. The study aims to trace the transformations of the Tiber's infrastructural system through archaeological data, integrated with historical and iconographic sources, collected in a GIS database. This has made it possible to represent all the information in cartographic form, offering a detailed reconstruction of the river landscape. The result is a unified and long-term vision that conveys more than two millennia of the history of an area that was crucial to the development of the city of Rome.
