Identification and Mapping of Areas Susceptible to Mass Movements

This book was developed in the Jacuí Stream Microbasin, located in the municipality of João Monlevade, in the interior of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The purpose of this work was to contribute to minimizing socio-environmental problems in the region, in relation to the damage caused by landslides. The content presented is justified by evidence of disorderly occupation, with people settling in areas unsuitable for housing. This scenario is prone to landslides, especially during rainy periods, causing erosion that directly affects humans. Given this complexity, it was proposed to map the degrees of landslide risk in the microbasin. We hope that reading this work will contribute to the planning of actions aimed at reducing the consequences of mass movements in the Jacuí Stream microbasin, as well as in the entire city of João Monlevade and other regions that present this problem.
