Ilja Tschaschnik

Ilya Chashnik (1902-1929) is one of the most outstanding artists of the early twentieth century. As a student and colleague of Kazimir Malevich, he developed his own version of Suprematism, opening up new spaces in this radical, profoundly intellectual and spiritual Russian avant-garde movement. Despite his premature death, the artist left behind numerous works of art-paintings, prints, sculptures, and architectural projects-whose wealth of ideas, freshness, and boldness continue to surprise us.With an introduction by the renowned avant-garde expert Alexandra Shatskikh, this is the first publication to present the ninety-eight works on paper by Chashnik that have been in the possession of the Sepherot Foundation in Liechtenstein since 2010, currently the largest private collection of works by Ilya Chashnik.
