The vinyl polysiloxane and the polyether are state-of-the-art impression materials. Collectively they provide characteristics that lack very little in their ability to make excellent impressions. If the clinician continues to have ill-fitting restorations, it may not only be due to inadequacy of the impression materials, but rather due to unacceptable clinical procedures.
