In recent years, the journalism profession has reached a turning point. This turning point has been marked by major economic changes, but also by the emergence of new information technologies. This is what is known as Web 2.0 journalism or online journalism. In a first theoretical section, we examine the various impacts of digital technology on journalists and, more specifically, on web journalists - these new professionals in the field of continuous news coverage. Taking the case of sports web journalists, we ask whether or not the journalist is facing a genuine identity crisis. In the second part, sixteen sports web journalists from four different French-speaking Belgian newsrooms were interviewed. The aim was to understand the challenges facing the profession of online journalism. Indeed, the economic model, day-to-day practices, perceptions of online journalists, and the specific nature of online sports coverage are all discussed.
