In Transit is a collection of poetry pulled from many travel journals. These poems explore what it means to grow into oneself. This is a book about movement, and about the beauty of the natural world alongside its destruction; about cultural identity and the complicated feelings around belonging.Spanning the course of fourteen years, In Transit moves through landscapes and through the quieter transitions of aging and letting go. Youth carries the illusion of endless possibility and then adulthood asks us to reckon with loss, grief and impermanence. To grow older is to encounter, perhaps for the first time, the reality of death, not only as an ending, but as something woven into life itself. These poems hold the uncertainty of that threshold: the world as it is and the world we once imagined it could be.Canadian-born writer, Alexandra, now calls Vancouver Island home, where rugged coastlines, rain-soaked forests, and wild cedar trees continue to inspire her work.
