A critical visual investigation into the remains of abandoned defensive settlements constructed in Spain's Tena Valley during the aftermath of World War IIFrom 2024 to 2025, Spanish photographer and architect Iñaki Bergera (born 1972) documented the 185 structures of Sector 23 of the Pyrenees Defense Organization in the Tena Valley (Huesca), a network of defensive settlements known as the P Line, built between 1945 and 1955. Intended to house various types of weaponry, the P Line never saw combat, but its structures remain embedded in the landscape today as a reminder of one of the most violent episodes in Spanish history. This book contains a selection of 70 photographs from Bergera's project. Structured into four sections--Typologies, Landscape, Spaces and Views--the book views these constructions from different angles: the analysis of defensive systems (machine guns, mortars, cannons, etc.), their camouflage and integration into the Pyrenean landscape, the experience of their interior spaces and, finally, the photographer's relationship with these "machines for looking."
