Inductive Position Sensing and Control of Power Cylinder: Design, Fabrication Implementation

This book presents the complete development of a non-contact inductive sensing and closed-loop control system for industrial power cylinders. It covers the system objective, block diagram and working principle of a modified differential inductive sensor using two coils wound on the cylinder. It includes a literature survey of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and various position sensors such as LVDT, capacitive, magnetostrictive and encoders. The methodology details the design of the differential measurement circuit, instrumentation amplifier, rectifier and filter, zero-span-gain adjustment, comparator and PIDD controller.
