Bol Algeria currently faces a fundamental challenge: the need to restructure its national economy, which for decades has relied almost entirely on hydrocarbon exports as its primary source of foreign currency. This excessive dependence has made the national economy vulnerable to sharp fluctuations in global markets, particularly with the repeated drops in oil prices since 2014, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to a near-total halt in maritime shipping and a crisis in the hydrocarbons sector. This has exposed the fragility of the rentier economic model and its limitations in achieving sustainable and inclusive development. Given these circumstances, the urgent need arose to adopt a new economic strategy based on diversifying the production base by developing alternative sectors capable of generating wealth outside the hydrocarbon sector. The industrial and agricultural sectors are among the most prominent of these, given their significant potential to play a pivotal role in achieving economic growth. The industrial sector is a cornerstone of any economic transformation, contributing to high added value and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.
