Bol The influences of urbanization on extreme weather and climate change have attracted increasing research interest. However, many scientific questions remain unanswered. For example, it is necessary to determine whether there is a clear urban signal, in the sense of climatological means and long-term trends, for extreme temperatures and intense precipitation. If there is, what are the spatial and temporal patterns of the effects of urbanization, and what are the major drivers and mechanisms of changes in climate extremes? In addition, we need to understand the significance of extreme climate changes, as observed at urban meteorological stations, for detecting large-scale climate change and for understanding urban climate change in cities. To address the issues raised above, this Special Issue of Land (Section: Land-Climate Interaction) was launched. Its first edition, covering research on the influence of urbanization on extreme climate events, is now complete. Eight papers were published in the Special Issue, examining high and low temperatures, intense precipitation, and Meiyu precipitation in urban areas of China. These investigations will help deepen our understanding of urban climate extremes. We are pleased that the papers included in the first edition of this Special Issue can be collected and collated into a reprint, in accordance with Land's publishing policy. We thank all of the authors for choosing to publish their results in this Special Issue. We hope this reprint provides a more convenient way to read and a new reading experience.
