INTERMINABLE TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE: THE CASE OF SOUTH AFRICA'S TRANSITION FROM APARTHEID COMPLAINTS JANUARY 2025

The book highlights the important yet extremely complex role of transitional justice in the pacification of a country that has experienced shocking events such as rebellions, internal conflicts, civil wars, natural disasters or any other situation resulting in serious human rights violations. Using South Africa as a case study, the author begins by outlining the different objectives of transitional justice, as well as the main concepts and principles that characterize it, both in terms of the way it is carried out and in terms of the actual implementation of projects, measures and promises that will facilitate the pacification of the nation. Secondly, he highlights the essential difficulties that make it an ongoing issue for leaders, drawing inspiration from the complaints filed in 2025 by the victims of apartheid in South Africa, 20 years after the end of the process. The author concludes with some personal comments on this institution, which he feels is gradually departing from its objectives and losing its specific features.
