Henri Poincaré radically transformed our entire conception of mathematics. Long regarded as divine entities due to Plato's Pythagoreanism, mathematical truths, with Poincaré, ceased to be external to the human mind. For they are mental constructs ultimately based on intuition. From now on, mathematical truths are the product of human activity. The psycho-physiological constructivism underlying this philosophy foreshadows the findings of neuroscience.
