Is there a country at peace

In this book, we explore the concept of peace and its relationship to people within a country. In other words, we examine clear facts related to people's immediate and broader environments. Thus, can a country truly be at peace in the absence of democracy, education, and healthcare-and in the presence of poverty, corruption, insecurity, and many other ills that are just as critical to a population's basic needs? Given that the population is a collection of individuals-an indispensable element in defining the very essence of a country-can we truly speak of peace when a segment of the population, however small, lacks even the most basic necessities? Our approach, therefore, is to raise questions in order to achieve active peace with a view toward lasting peace. Our goal is for readers to challenge the ideologies they may have formed and to develop their own opinions, so that, through their own perspectives, they can contribute to building a lasting peace.
