Isidore The Immortal: A Modern Mythical Story

She is the oldest living thing on Earth, and for twelve thousand years she has asked one question: who did this? Before there were vampires, there was Isidore. She calls herself an auditor. Long ago, in a world that went by a different name, she was made to walk into the worst rooms her kind could find and hunt the thing that rides us - the invading darkness that turns an ordinary person into a weapon. Find the rider. Judge the rider. Keep the fence between the living and the dark. But at the bottom of every atrocity she has ever opened - a drowned city, a burning warehouse, a nightclub the fire marshal still cannot explain, a garden outside a provincial wall - she keeps finding the same impossible answer. The one she is not permitted to bear: Nobody. They did it themselves. Told in her own unflinching voice, Isidore the Immortal is the testimony of the first of the Modern Mythicals - a woman who has outlived every empire, buried everyone she ever loved, and cannot stop keeping the record straight. From the ice of Everest to a private beach in Miami, from the deep past to a hunt still unfolding tonight, she sets down what really happened, and what the official record refuses to hold. She only hunts the wicked. She has never once been wrong about who they are. A Modern Mythical Story.
