Jesus is Victor! the True Account of Exorcism Gottliebin Dittus: a Case Haunting, Demon Possession & Deliverance in German Village

In 1842, in the quiet German village of Möttlingen, Gottliebin Dittus began to experience a series of terrifying and inexplicable events in a haunted house. Her pastor, Johann Christoph Blumhardt, was drawn into the struggle-and what began as an attempt to help one troubled young woman became a prolonged confrontation with what he came to understand as the powers of darkness. For months, Blumhardt faced manifestations he could neither explain nor overcome. There were setbacks, deception, spiritual oppression, intense prayer and fasting, and a battle involving hundreds of demons that tested his faith to its limits.Yet Blumhardt refused to give the darkness the final word.As the struggle deepened, so did his dependence upon God. He came to understand that the answer was not human power, technique or religious ceremony, but the authority of Jesus Christ. The eventual deliverance of Gottliebin Dittus became one of the most remarkable accounts of spiritual warfare in nineteenth-century Christian history. And what followed was extraordinary. Revival broke out in Möttlingen, remarkable healings took place, and the influence of what happened there spread far beyond this small German village.Andrew Murray, who visited Möttlingen and met Blumhardt, later held up his experience as a remarkable example of persevering prayer. Now faithfully translated from the original German into clear, contemporary English, Jesus Is Victor! brings this extraordinary account to a new generation of readers.A story of spiritual warfare, perseverance, prayer, deliverance, revival and healing-and the absolute victory of Christ over darkness. This was the case that helped shape a wider Christian awakening in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, leaving its mark on the Holiness, revival, healing, Pentecostal and deliverance movements.Jesus is Victor.
