A comprehensive biography of the Devon-born visionary, Joanna Southcott, who left a box of papers with instructions that it was only to be opened by the 24 English Bishops, to give a revelation that is still awaited. Claiming that the still, small voice she heard was the word of God, and prophesying a Second Coming, she attracted a wide following, sealing many believers against harm during the turbulent years of the 19th-century. The author has identified many previously elusive people, places and events associated with Joanna's life.
