Joyful Days Ahead

The life of Giovanni Calzone, a young philosophy teacher at a Neapolitan classical high school in Naples, touched by the grace of a living faith, was a short but intense adventure. These pages, which contain his thoughts and notes, reveal a profound and religious sense of life, seriousness and passion in his studies and his relationships with friends. No particular emotion is neglected; everything (every enthusiasm as well as every shadow and sadness) is worthy of being observed, examined, and retained for its value. And so, every small circumstance becomes a step towards destiny.Shortly before he died, Giovanni wrote: "Happy days are approaching because I have asked the Lord to allow me to serve Him." His presence was truly decisive, and his testimony is still a comfort for many, while suggesting a path for those who feel the desire for life but are unable to respond to it.
