The ZKM | Museum f?r Neue Kunst opened its doors in Karlsruhe in December 1999 with the goal of making works from important private art collections in Baden-W?rttemberg accessible to the public. A large exhibition has now been prepared on the occasion of the museum's tenth anniversary that will demonstrate that the state of Baden-W?rttemberg is unequalled in its unique concentration of private collectors. Nowhere else in the country are the private collections so diverse, of such high quality, and so internationally oriented. As a veritable mus?e imaginaire, this volume assembles major works from these collections, providing a rich survey of artistic movements and tendencies from the onset of modernism to the present day.
