Bol In the year 1587, Catholic King Henri de Guise rules over more than half of France while Henry III is not even King of Paris anymore. In Paris, the Ligue is law. Meanwhile Henri de Navarre, the Huguenot, is leading an army in the West of France. In order to put an end to this thirty-year religious conflict between Protestants and Catholics, Catherine de Medicis requests to meet Navarre, rightful heir to the throne, to convince him to convert to Catholicism. But could there be another reason for her trip? Olivier Hauteville, torn between his Catholic faith and his love for Cassandre de Mornay, a protestant, runs into trouble with the redoubtable Duchess de Montpensier while the Ligue is preparing to kidnap Cassandre who stole the money swindled by the Duc de Guise. Amidst the intrigue, debauchery and discord of the Queen mother's court, Isabeau de Limeuil has returned. Is it to find the child she lost twenty years before or to assassinate Henri de Navarre?
