Le Fantome de la Rue Royale

Sartine and Nicolas Le Floch's success in their investigations annoy a lot of people who would like to see them eliminated. The day the royal heir's wedding is celebrated in Paris, a catastrophe occurs: coaches are knocked over, crushing hundreds of victims. Among the bodies, a young woman is found clenching a black pearl tightly in her hand. How did she die? Suffocation or strangulation? A strange family living rue Saint-Honoré seems to be in the very centre of the investigation. With the surgeon Semacgus and the henchman Sanson, Nicolas Le Floch will have to confront, among others, a servant possessed by the devil and a cultured American Indian.
