Lest We Forget is a lyrical act of remembrance and resistance. Through haunting persona poems that breathe life into the silenced voices of the Weeping Time Sale, love letters to Atlanta and Black girlhood, and fierce protest poems in memoriam to the pain of police brutality, Deaundra Jackson quilts a tapestry of grief, grace, and undying truth. These meditations on memory, identity, and the poet's role in bearing witness unveil a voice that is both tender and unflinching, refusing to let history, or hope, be erased.Deaundra Jacksonis a 2023 graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, where she earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Writing and served as a Jane Cooper Fellow. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science from Spelman College. Her work amplifies marginalized voices, serving as a significant form of literary activism. In 2023, she was recognized as a Diversities and Diasporas Fellow by the Global Diversity Foundation. Deaundra resides in Atlanta, Georgia, where she enjoys watching hummingbirds and attending music festivals.
