Liability of Internet service providers for Copyright Infringement

This book is a research work on the law of Copyright. The subject of the book is on Internet service providers and their liabilities. The law of Copyright does not provide any liability for infriengement of copyright on Internet service providers. The IT laws as well fails to address the issue leading to ISPs evading their liability under fair use doctrine. However legislations in US and Canada have legislated and settle the issue ascribing liability on Internet Service Providers. US's Digital Millenium Copyright Act pins liability on the ISP's in the event if it is established that the ISP had knowledge of infringement and there was notice issed to the ISP. Similarly, Canada has established a system of graduated response system to check copyright Infringement which has resulted in effective management of the infringement activities. Lastly the book highlights such laws as that of US and Canada can be implemented in India and if implemented India IP regime can be stregenthed and India can move forward as creators from imitators.
