The title of this book says it all. Lilly, the Downeast Lobstah is a wonderful children's story about a Lobstah named Lilly. She soon realizes she is not alone while living in the cool waters along the rocky coast in Downeast Maine. Lilly is small and unsure of herself but she soon learns that she has her friends all around her. She learns how to lean on them for advice and help on how to survive and live in the sea. It is a story of realizing there is a lot to learn to survive in life especially when you are young and small. Lilly realizes she needs her friends to learn from and she learns to trust them. She and all her friends end up getting caught in a lobstah trap and she is thrown back in the water and set free because she is too small. The voices she hears are calling her a small lobstah. This is where she learns she must be a lobstah, she must be too small and that is why she is being thrown back into the waters all alone. However, this time she is not scared to be alone because she has learned so much from her friends, the bigger ones and she is confident to go back out to sea and make new friends.
