Bol Oral History gathering is an official method of preserving voices and memories-to see a slice of the pie of life. Only we can tell our own story. A good first-person story will leave us wondering, thinking, and daydreaming. In this book, you'll find beautiful oral histories gathered from Johnson County, Wyoming, citizens. These storytellers capture a place in time, narrating details of the times they lived. The histories tell of homesteading, ranching, cowboying, sheep trailing, and tie hacking. They travel through both World Wars, the Great Depression, to present-day Buffalo and Kaycee, Wyoming, and the large ranches and tiny "suburbs" in Johnson County. Their stories help us understand how people lived and survived in the Bighorn Mountains and Powder River Country through the years. Listen closely to learn their voices, their adventures, and their wisdom.
